The TARGETED-MPI GEPs are viewed as tools for structural change in the participating research institutions and as such will underpin the achievement of following objectives:

1

Foster Gender Equality in research/academic careers.

2

Ensure gender balance in decision-making processes and bodies.

3

Integrate the gender dimension in research and innovation content.

To achieve its objectives the TARGETED-MPI project will:

1. Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate, and adjust GEPs in the participating organisations project partners to address gender imbalances by:

-Developing and synthesising baseline knowledge obtained by auditing existing practices and processes of the participating organisations and analysing the relevant national context;
-Defining (quantitative and qualitative) indicators for gender barriers at various stages of career progression;
-Setting targets for monitoring progress via the identified indicators at all participating institutions;

2. Remove barriers to recruitment, retention and career progression of female researchers.

3. Develop and strengthen the GE culture in participating organisations, identify innovative ways to develop and support GE in terms of broader societal needs and communities.

4. Identify best practices within and across participating research organisations to reveal implicit gender bias in organisational processes and practices.

5. Develop mechanisms for the sharing of best practices across participating research organisations, and across the Business and Management schools of the European Research Area.

6. Establish a network of Gender Equality Observatories involving participating partner organisations and other external research organisations that will monitor GEPs’ progress, disseminate knowledge and share best practice widely.
